Events Volunteer -
Role Description

The Cat Welfare Group believes that every cat deserves a life filled with love, care and respect, and we work tirelessly to make this belief a reality.

We rescue, rehabilitate and rehome hundreds of cats each year thanks to our dedicated volunteers who work in Rescue & Transport, Foster and Events roles. Our volunteers tell us that they enjoy being part of an amazing team and are proud of what we achieve together. If you are passionate about helping cats in need we would love to receive a volunteer application from you.

Role title: Events Volunteer

What does the role involve:

  • (Drivers) Helping transport kit to the Event location either in your own vehicle or using the TCWG van.

  • Setting up the Events stand and displaying the goods we offer for sale.

  • Where visitors are interested in volunteering with us promoting our Rescue & Transport, Foster and Events roles.

  • Where visitors would like to support us financially promoting donations through Just Giving, via Bank Standing Orders, or purchasing supplies for the cats in our care from our Amazon Wish List.

Impact of the role:

Our Events Team are the public face of The Cat Welfare Group. We have no central rescue facility so our Events volunteers are vital to our ability to broaden our reach, promote the work that we do and connect in person with the people in our community. You will be helping educate pet owners whilst raising both support and funds that are absolutely essential to deliver our animal rescue work.

Qualities needed:

  • Commitment to help make a difference to the lives of cats in need. Willingness to work as part of a team. Capacity to engage with members of the public in a personable, professional and positive manner.

  • We ask that Events volunteers give a minimum of 24 hours per year, equating to 4 full days or 8 half days staffing community Events.

Training:

  • You will be provided with orientation materials to ensure you have a thorough understanding of The Cat Welfare Group and are confident to engage with the public. You will be teamed with an experienced volunteer to help learn the role. At all events there will always be at least two Events volunteers working together.

Support:

TCWG volunteers are a lively and friendly group who are always willing to give peer group advice and support, both in person at events and on line in our Facebook and Whats App Staff Rooms. Our Events Co-ordination Team will be the first point of contact for Events issues. The Events volunteers have their own Whats App group where the upcoming Events calendar is posted and arrangements for each event are communicated. Our Director of Volunteer Engagement will also always be available to give advice and support for any broader volunteering matters.

Can you help us?

Understandably, our donations have dropped dramatically during these uncertain times, while the intake of those in need has risen. We simply MUST carry on doing what we do, so how can you help us?

We are no different to any other organisation, we need regular funds in to continue our crucial work. Each kitten raised, fed, vaccinated, chipped and neutered costs us on average £250. Each stray cat caught, blood tested, vaccinated, chipped and neutered costs on average £200. These are the healthy ones!

Please see below the different ways you can donate and help us carry on our vital work.
